Rags game postponed due to first team call-ups

Cardiff will have to wait at least an extra week to get the Indigo Group Premiership underway as Saturday’s game away at Llanelli has been postponed.

The Blue and Blacks have seen 19 players either in the semi-professional squad or the academy who have turned out for them this season join the first team for their preparations ahead of Heineken Champions Cup clashes against Toulouse and Harlequins. That is largely due to the 32 first team players quarantining after being caught up in South Africa as the country was added to the UK’s red travel list.

Further to that the Rags have eight players out injured or unavailable currently, with a further one suspended. As a result the game that was due to take place at Parc y Scarlets has been postponed with a new date to be announced in due course.

Attention now turns to the following weekend’s game against Swansea at St Helens, with the suggestion being that those first team players in quarantine are highly unlikely to feature away at Harlequins. As a result the Rags will be called upon again, but a decision will likely be taken next week.
