Ysgol Glantaf and Whitchurch High School secured spots in their respective WRU College League Finals in the last round of pool games on Wednesday.
With Cardiff and Vale College already in the Cup Final, where they will face Llandovery College after the West Walians beat Coleg y Cymoedd last week to book their place at the Principality Stadium, both Glantaf and Whitchurch needed wins to join them.
In the Plate, Glantaf went up against Coleg Sir Gar at Bridgend’s Brewery Field in front of the S4C Rygbi Pawb cameras. A penalty from Harri Wilde and try from Rhys Burleton could not prevent them from going in 8-10 down at the break, but Llywarch ap Myrddin’s men rallied in the second half with tries from Josh Lee and Tom Weekly, plus the boot of man-of-the-match Wilde giving them a 25-13 victory.
Meanwhile in the Bowl, Whitchurch needed just a point to finish above Coleg Penybont, but secured it in style with a 29-15 bonus point victory over Coleg Llandrillo.
Glantaf will now face Newport High School at the Stadium, with Whitchurch meeting Llandrillo again, at next Wednesday’s Finals day.
