Cardiff centre Rey Lee-Lo has been given a three-game ban for the red card received against the Dragons in the final United Rugby Championship game before the international break.
The 34-year-old was sent from the field in the 52nd minute for a high tackle on Sam Davies, although the Blue and Blacks would hold on to win 31-29 in the Welsh derby at the Arms Park thanks to the boot of Jarrod Evans.
Lee-Lo’s disciplinary hearing has gone unreported by both Cardiff and the URC for reasons not yet known, but WalesOnline’s Simon Thomas tweeted last week that the Samoan had been suspended for three games meaning he misses the double header against the Lions and Stormers in South Africa, as well as the opening game of the Heineken Champions Cup against Toulouse.
The likelihood is that the player pleaded guilty to the offence which would have had a six-game entry point and courtesy of that plea and a previously clean disciplinary record, this being the first red card of his career, a full 50% mitigation would have been applied by the hearing’s panel.
