Faletau set to sign for Cardiff after Bath confirm departure

Bath have announced that Wales and British & Irish Lions number eight Taulupe Faletau will leave at the end of the season, with reports heavily linking him with a switch to Cardiff.

The 30-year-old will depart The Rec after five years in the west of England, where he currently has 64 appearances under his belt, having joined from the Dragons where he began his professional career, also winning 86 Wales and five Lions test caps to-date.

Mark Orders at WalesOnline ran the exclusive story of Faletau’s move to the Welsh capital on Monday evening, with his current club confirming his departure on Tuesday lunchtime, although it is believed the deal to take him to the Arms Park is not complete yet so an announcement is not necessarily imminent.

At Cardiff he would currently do battle with James Ratti, Alun Lawrence and Sam Moore for the number eight jersey, with Josh Navidi and Josh Turnbull also capable of slotting in at the back of the scrum when required.
