Young tries different approach for Sharks test

Cardiff director of rugby David Young has rung the changes as his Blue and Blacks side face a second South African opponent in a week, welcoming Sharks to the Arms Park after last Saturday’s loss to Bulls.

There are eight changes to the starting XV in all as Dillon Lewis swaps with Dmitri Arhip at tighthead, Rory Thornton comes in for the injured Matthew Screech in the second row, and Josh Turnbull and Ellis Jenkins both return to the back row with Josh Navidi out and James Ratti not included in the matchday 23.

The majority of the changes come in the backs though where only Rhys Priestland, Owen Lane and Josh Adams survive, and one of them switches positions.

Tomos Williams and Lloyd Williams switch again at scrum-half, while Willis Halaholo returns at inside centre where he is joined by Lane who moves inside to 13. Aled Summerhill makes a first start of the season on the wing, as does Matthew Morgan who comes in at full-back.

Ben Thomas and Hallam Amos will both make an impact off the bench, where they are joined by Rhys Gill, Teddy Williams and Shane Lewis-Hughes who are all included in a matchday squad for the first time this campaign.

Cardiff: Matthew Morgan, Aled Summerhill, Owen Lane, Willis Halaholo, Josh Adams, Rhys Priestland, Tomos Williams; Rhys Carre, Kirby Myhill, Dillon Lewis, Seb Davies, Rory Thornton, Josh Turnbull (c), Ellis Jenkins, Will Boyde

Replacements: Kris Dacey, Rhys Gill, Dmitri Arhip, Teddy Williams, Shane Lewis-Hughes, Lloyd Williams, Ben Thomas, Hallam Amos
