Cardiff freshen up for trip to Merthyr

Cardiff head coach Steve Law has made seven changes to his starting XV that beat Pontypridd last week for Saturday’s visit to Merthyr, 2.30pm kick-off.

The majority of changes come up front where Iestyn Harris returns at hooker after being a reserve for the first team last week, while Llyr Green is back alongside him at tighthead prop. Rhys Anstey gets the nod alongside first-time captain Sean Moore in the second row, while James Richards starts at blindside flanker with Alex Everett making an impact from the bench.

Into the backs and Jack Maynard and Dan Fish switch at fly-half while Garyn Smith gets some game time in midfield with Ioan Evans switching to inside centre to accommodate. Ryan Edwards returns to the back three on the left wing.

On the bench Keiron Assiratti will cover tighthead prop while Morgan Allen returns from injury as back row cover. Rory Harries continues to be the scrum-half option on permit from Bedwas.

Cardiff: Jacob Beetham, Harri Millard, Garyn Smith, Ioan Evans, Ryan Edwards, Jack Maynard, Ethan Lloyd; Theo Bevacqua, Iestyn Harris, Llyr Green, Sean Moore (c), Rhys Anstey, James Richards, Gwilym Bradley, Sam Moore

Replacements: Evan Yardley, Brynley Toms, Keiron Assiratti, Morgan Allen, Alex Everett, Rory Harries, Dan Fish, Tom Hoppe
