The WRU College League got underway on Wednesday for the first time in two years after the 2020/21 campaign was lost to the coronavirus pandemic.
A new format for the competition sees all four teams in the Cardiff regional development pathway playing each other in a double round-robin, so it was the first of many city derbies that got the season underway.
Whitchurch High School hosted Cardiff & Vale College with the away side putting their hands up as serious contenders this year, sweeping their opposition away with a 0-54 scoreline.
Into the evening and in front of the S4C Rygbi Pawb cameras, Ysgol Glantaf took their home game against Coleg y Cymoedd to Sardis Road, battling hard against the five-time champions to go in just 9-17 down at the break, but an early second half try from Cymoedd took the game away with a final score of 16-24.
Next Wednesday afternoon sees Cardiff & Vale hosting Glantaf while Cymoedd welcome Whitchurch.
