Wales U20 centre Ioan Evans has signed an Academy contract with Cardiff after impressing since being released two years ago.
The 20-year-old is a former Pontypridd Schoolboy and played in WRU College League winning Coleg y Cymoedd sides alongside being selected for Cardiff U16 and Cardiff U18 sides until he graduated the Regional Age Grade set up in the summer of 2019.
Not offered an Academy contract at that time he linked up with Pontypridd where he made two appearances off the bench in the Indigo Group Premiership before the season was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic.
During the time away from competitive rugby he was invited to train with the Cardiff Academy and linked up with the Wales U20 wider training squad, eventually making their final squad for the U20 Six Nations and playing in all five games, starting four at outside centre and coming off the bench once.
Evans will now officially join the Academy ahead of the 2021/22 campaign, looking to get more experience in the Premiership before making a push for the first team.
