Cardiff RFC confirm semi-professional squad for 2021/22

The Cardiff RFC semi-professional squad has been confirmed ahead of the 2021/22 campaign with 21 players forming the core of the Rags.

There are 10 players retained from the pre-pandemic squad with loosehead props Thomas Davies and Brynley Toms, hooker Evan Yardley, tighthead prop Ollie Drake, back rowers Nathan Hudd, Alex Everett and Morgan Allen, scrum-half Tom Habberfield, fly-half Jack Maynard, and centre Barney Nightingale all returning to the Arms Park.

The new signings start up front where hooker Alun Rees and tighthead prop Llyr Green both join from Llandovery, while there is a new engine room as Sean Moore joins from Pontypridd, Gareth Allen comes in from Bedwas and Rory Bartle signs from Jersey. The last new signing in the pack sees flanker James Richards link up from Bedwas.

In the backs, fly-half Jack Maynard also joins from Llandovery, while there are new faces in midfield and the back three as centre Dafydd Smith and winger George Gasson both sign having been formerly a part of the Wales 7s squad, centre Tom Hoppe joins from Newport and the Dragons Academy, and Ryan Edwards signs having been released by Bristol and previously playing on line for the Cardiff first team.

The Rags play their first pre-season friendly on Saturday 28th August against London Welsh at the Arms Park, before the Indigo Group Premiership Cup gets underway with RGC visiting the capital on Saturday 11th September.
