Injuries hit Wales U20 ahead of England U20 clash

Wales U20 head coach Ioan Cunningham has been dealt a double injury blow as loosehead prop Garyn Phillips and second row Dafydd Jenkins join flanker Harri Deaves on the sideline.

The duo are part of five changes to the starting XV that lost to France U20 last time out as the young Welshmen prepare to take on England U20 on Wednesday evening, as Cardiff’s Theo Bevacqua and Dragons Joe Peard are recalled. The other change in the pack sees Ospreys’ Rhys Thomas get a first start alongside Peard at lock with James Fender dropping to the bench.

In the backs Sam Costelow of Scarlets and Cardiff’s Ioan Evans return at fly-half and outside centre respectively as Will Reed and Eddie James take a seat on the bench.

Cameron Jones of the Ospreys is named among the replacements to cover loosehead prop, while Evan Lloyd of Cardiff also returns to the bench to cover the back row.
