U18s ring the changes for Scarlets trip

Cardiff U18s have switched things up as the Blue and Blacks look to build on back-to-back wins in the start of this three-team series with Dragons U18s and the next opponent, Scarlets U18s.

Following on from the win at Ystrad Mynach on Sunday, head coach Craig Everett has made seven changes to the starting XV for the trip to Parc y Scarlets. It’s almost all change in the front row as Rhys Barratt switches from loosehead to tighthead prop, and is joined by Ioan Emmanuel at prop and Jack Locke at hooker.

At lock Zack Mutyambizi replaces Tirion Bowen, while Kian Evans is in for namesake Sam at number eight, and Ethan Fackrell is allowed to play despite being too old for U18 rugby as he starts in place of Gwilym Evans at openside flanker.

In the backs, Jacob Symes returns to fly-half as Harrison James moves into the centre and Louie Hennessey-Booth gets a rest, with Ryan Wilkins captaining the side. Ty Lewis gets the nod on the wing with Immanuel Feyi-Waboso sitting out.

Loosehead prop Kai Carnell, lock Jac Williams and outside backs Amir Saleh and Jac Davies get nods to make their first appearances off the bench.

Cardiff Blues U18: Cameron Winnett, Iwan Pyrs-Jones, Ryan Wilkins (c), Harrison James, Ty Lewis, Jacob Symes, Zak Fifield; Ioan Emmanuel, Jack Locke, Rhys Barratt, Tom Caple, Zack Mutyambizi, Mackenzie Martin, Ethan Fackrell, Kian Evans

Replacements: Harri Williams, Kai Carnell, Kian Mattravers, Jac Williams, Sam Evans, Chad Powell, Sam Harris, Amir Saleh, Jac Davies, Gwilym Evans
