Cardiff Blues are likely to be without Josh Navidi for much, if not all, of the upcoming Rainbow Cup after the shoulder injury he suffered against London Irish.
The 30-year-old picked up the knock late in the European Challenge Cup round of 16 clash, and there was an initial fear that he would be ruled out of contention for the British & Irish Lions tour as a result, but Dai Young has confirmed that won’t be the case this week.
Navidi has avoided the need to have surgery and will now face a six-week rehabilitation period, which may allow him to return for the very end of the competition depending on the scheduling of the final three rounds now the South African sides will not be able to travel to Europe.
Warren Gatland will name his Lions touring party for the test series against the Springboks on Thursday 6th May.
