Lloyd Williams cleared of citing complaint

Lloyd Williams has avoided a ban after being cited for stamping on Paddy Jackson during Cardiff Blues’ European Challenge Cup round of 16 defeat to London Irish.

The scrum-half was adjudged to have stamped on the opposition fly-half as he tried to roll away from a breakdown late in the game, with contact made to the genitals of Jackson by the left-foot of Williams.

Williams did not accept the charge, contending any contact was accidental as he tried to step over Jackson who was lying on the wrong side of the breakdown, and although the panel did find foul play had been committed they agreed that it did not warrant a red card.
