Cardiff Blues winger Aled Summerhill will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on the wrist injured in the win over Edinburgh.
The 26-year-old, who has three tries in 12 games in the 2020/21 campaign, suffered the injury as he sent Rey Lee-Lo over for a fine counter attacking try in the final game of the Guinness Pro14 season and went under the knife last week.
He joins Garyn Smith (knee) and Shane Lewis-Hughes (shoulder) as players who are out for the rest of the season, with Brad Thyer (calf), Will Boyde (eye) and Mason Grady (knee) facing a race against time to be fit for Rainbow Cup action.
There is better news for Owen Lane (hamstring) and Teddy Williams (shoulder) who will both be able to play some part in the exhibition competition if selected, while Ellis Jenkins (groin) should also be back by the time Dai Young’s side travel to the Ospreys on the weekend of 24th April.
Finally, Cardiff Blues have provided an update on Sam Moore who is close to being fit to play again after a knee problem. It is unknown if it is the same knee which he underwent surgery on before arriving at the Arms Park, with his return to action on that occasion restricting him to partial outings against Ospreys, Munster, Edinburgh and Glasgow, before playing 75 minutes against Newcastle in his last game.
