Cardiff Blues are close to announcing that fly-half Jarrod Evans has signed a new contract to stay at the club after his wage banding was clarified by the Professional Rugby Board.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Welsh rugby over the past few months, with Worcester Warriors believed to be the front runners while Gloucester and Bath were also rumoured to be in discussions with his agent.
The club maintained throughout that they were confident of re-signing Evans though, and it seems as if that will be the case now after an appeal to the PRB saw the player moved up a level in the wage banding structure and agree a new deal to remain at the Arms Park beyond the end of this season.
Evans has made 12 appearances in all competitions during this campaign, scoring 110 points along the way, and is set to wear the number 10 jersey against London Irish in the European Challenge Cup round of 16 game on Friday evening.
