Cardiff Blues boosted by availability of Wales players for Edinburgh clash

Cardiff Blues will welcome back Rhys Carre, Lloyd Williams, Jarrod Evans and Hallam Amos from the Wales squad for Monday night’s all-important Guinness Pro14 clash with Edinburgh.

As reported by Simon Thomas on WalesOnline, Evans and Amos were released to Dai Young on Friday while Rhys Carre and Lloyd Williams having travelled to Paris with the national team as reserves last night before returning today and linking up with their club on Monday before the game.

They will now play a part in helping Cardiff secure fourth place in Conference B with the hope being that will be enough to qualify for next season’s Heineken Champions Cup should it stay at an expanded 24-team entry.

Unfortunately Young will have to do without Mason Grady though as the young centre is ruled out for around two months with the knee injury sustained against Benetton last week, while Owen Lane is a major doubt with the hamstring problem that saw him withdraw from the squad for that game.

He may well be able to call on Kris Dacey and Dmitri Arhip though as both were pictured training with the first team at the Arms Park on Friday.
