Cardiff City Stadium to host Welsh derbies

Cardiff Blues will play host to the Ospreys and Scarlets at Cardiff City Stadium over the next two weeks as we move to a second temporary home of the season.

Cardiff Arms Park is still unavailable due to the pitch being relaid after damage suffered when the ground was part of the Ysbyty Calon y Ddraig, with work continuing to get our true home up and running ahead of the tie with Newcastle Falcons at the end of January.

Up until now home games have been played at Rodney Parade in Newport, but with Newport County FC at home the next two weekends, and taking primacy due to Football League rules, there is no option for Cardiff Blues to head east.

As a result it’s the short switch to Leckwith for John Mulvihill’s men, returning to a ground we called home between 2009 and 2012. It was an unhappy time in the west of the city for the club, eventually returning to the Arms Park, but with Cardiff City FC playing away the next two weekends it will hopefully provide some happier memories to get 2021 off to a good start.
