Cardiff Blues get fitness boosts ahead of Benetton

Cardiff Blues head coach John Mulvihill is hopeful of welcoming James Botham, Jarrod Evans and Willis Halaholo back into his squad for the visit of Benetton on Monday night.

The three men missed last week’s trip to Edinburgh but are set to overcome their niggles in order to provide the squad a welcome boost in the mission to break the three-game losing streak when the Italian side arrive at Rodney Parade.

Botham (shoulder) and Evans (leg) both picked up their knocks in the loss to Ulster two weeks ago, while Halaholo withdrew from that game after failing a late fitness test although his injury is not known.

Mulvihill also provided an update on other members of the squad with good news for Tomos Williams and Ellis Jenkins.

Scrum-half Williams is in line for a return to action against Leinster next week after recovering from the dislocated shoulder he suffered against Scarlets back in August.

Meanwhile Jenkins is close to a return from his nightmare two years of dealing with the torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered against South Africa for Wales in late 2018. He undertook some light training for the first time this week and is pencilled in to get some game time in a Cardiff Blues A fixture in early December.
