There will be a new face for Cardiff Blues in the middle on Sunday when Adam Jones takes charge of the game against Ospreys at Rodney Parade.
The former Powys County Council Sport Development Officer has been around the refereeing scene for a number of years as an Indigo Group Premiership referee, running the line in the Guinness Pro14 and in European competitions, and has been on the HSBC World Sevens Series.
However he only signed a full-time deal with the Welsh Rugby Union at the start of this year, and had to wait until after lockdown had passed to make his debut in the middle, refereeing Ospreys v Dragons last weekend.
In that game Jones had to hand out his first red card in the Pro14, sending off George North after just 20 minutes for taking Ashton Hewitt out in the air, with his performance widely praised on social media.
This will be his first time taking charge of a competitive Cardiff Blues game, although he did referee our fixture against Uruguay back in November 2018.
Jones will be assisted by Nigel Owens and Dan Jones, with Sean Brickell acting as the Television Match Official.
