Carre and Hill make second debuts as rugby returns

Cardiff Blues head coach John Mulvihill has given Rhys Carre and Cory Hill their first starts in their second spells at the club for the trip to Scarlets on Saturday.

Carre will pack down at loosehead, with Kris Dacey and Dillon Lewis completing the front row, while Hill joins Rory Thornton in the second row to form a new lock partnership.

In the back row Josh Turnbull will captain the team from the blindside as he returns to his former team alongside another ex-Scarlet in Will Boyde at number eight. Olly Robinson completes the trip at openside flanker.

At half-back there is the familiar site of Tomos Williams and Jarrod Evans teaming up, while a new centre partnership of Ben Thomas and Harri Millard will look to unlock the midfield.

The back three sees Josh Adams and Hallam Amos return to fitness, while Aled Summerhill completes it on the wing.

On the replacements bench, Rhys Gill, Kirby Myhill and Keiron Assiratti are the alternate front row, Seb Davies and Shane Lewis-Hughes cover the loose forwards, Lloyd Williams is the scrum-half cover, and Garyn Smith and Matthew Morgan are the outside backs.

The team selection seems to point to a policy of giving a number of players game time from John Mulvihill, with the likes of Dmitri Arhip, Sam Moore, Josh Navidi and Owen Lane all not involved at all.

Cardiff Blues: Hallam Amos, Josh Adams, Harri Millard, Ben Thomas, Aled Summerhill, Jarrod Evans, Tomos Williams; Rhys Carre, Kris Dacey, Dillon Lewis, Cory Hill, Rory Thornton, Josh Turnbull (c), Olly Robinson, Will Boyde

Replacements: Kirby Myhill, Rhys Gill, Keiron Assiratti, Seb Davies, Shane Lewis-Hughes, Lloyd Williams, Garyn Smith, Matthew Morgan
