Cardiff Blues make Rodney Parade ‘home’ as Guinness Pro14 fixtures confirmed

The fixtures for the completion of the Guinness Pro14’s 2019/20 season have been confirmed for the last two weekends of August as rugby returns.

There will be a truncated end to the campaign with just two rounds of derby fixtures leading into a shortened Finals Series consisting of semi-finals and the Final during the first two weekends of September.

As things stand there will be no fixtures for the South Africa sides due to the situation with COVID-19 in the country, but neither the Cheetahs or Southern Kings are in a position to make the play-offs.

Cardiff Blues will play away to Scarlets on Saturday 22nd August, 3pm kick-off, before hosting the Ospreys at Rodney Parade on Sunday 30th August, at 5pm. Both games will be broadcast live on Premier Sports with S4C showing the game as-live in the following days.

Cardiff Arms Park is still unavailable due to the Ysbyty Calon y Draig, therefore the home of the Dragons in Newport has been chosen for our home game as a suitable replacement.

Richard Holland told the official club website, “We are obviously happy to continue supporting Cardiff and Vale University Health Board with the Dragon’s Heart Hospital but that meant we needed a new venue to play this game.

“Taking the game elsewhere in the region was not a realistic option due to the the necessary compliance with Covid-19 protocols and our vast commercial obligations.

“Rodney Parade will obviously be fully Covid-19 compliant, has LED boards and boasts a fantastic playing service. We are very grateful to our friends at the Dragons, who have come to our aid and we are now looking forward to getting back on the pitch.”

The 2020/21 Guinness Pro14 season is still set to begin on the weekend of the 2/3/4th October.
