The Welsh Rugby Union has taken the decision to prevent any club teams in Wales playing or training for at least the next two weeks due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

A statement read, “The WRU, having considered expert medical advice has taken the precautionary measure of suspending all forms of rugby, including training and rugby-related courses, from 6pm on Saturday 14 March up to and including Monday 30 March 2020.

“The WRU has taken this decision in the interests of players, supporters, volunteers, referees, stakeholders and Welsh communities in general. The WRU will continue to assess this fast-moving situation and provide further updates in due course.”

As a result Cardiff RFC’s next two games have been called off, the league fixture against Newport at the Arms Park next Friday and the Specsavers Cup semi-final against Carmarthen Quins at the Talbot Athletic Ground.

It follows the postponement of Friday’s fixture against RGC, while there is also a game against Merthyr still to be re-arranged from the weekend of the cup tie.
