Allen banned for three weeks

Cardiff RFC captain Morgan Allen has been banned for three weeks after the red card he received during the Indigo Group Premiership game against Carmarthen Quins last month.

The number eight was sent from the field after being seen to strike the head of an opposition player with his boot at the maul, late in the Blue and Blacks’ 7-29 defeat suffered at Carmarthen Park.

Allen was free to play in the Specsavers Cup quarter-final against Llanelli the following week due to the time it takes for the Welsh Rugby Union to convene a disciplinary panel, but they met last week and issued the ban, which came down from six weeks due to an early admission of guilt and an otherwise clean record.

The 29-year-old will miss Cardiff games against Ebbw Vale away this weekend and Bridgend at home on Saturday 29th February in that time, before returning to availability for the away clash at Aberavon on Saturday 7th March.
