Cardiff RFC have been drawn against Carmarthen Quins in the semi-finals of the WRU Specsavers Cup, with ties to be played on the weekend of the weekend of the 28th March.

The kick-off day and time, as well as the venues with games to be played at neutral grounds, are still to be confirmed. Locations are usually selected as close to halfway between the two teams as possible.

The Blue and Blacks are the defending champions, having beaten Merthyr at the Principality Stadium last April to lift the trophy for the first time in 22 years, and have progressed to the semi-final with relative ease so far.

A 20-45 win away at RGC was followed by a 78-12 hammering of Ebbw Vale at the Arms Park before Llanelli were dispatched 20-35 at Parc y Scarlets last weekend.

They now meet Carmarthen Quins who have had to battle their way to this stage of the tournament with three away wins. First it was a 25-36 victory away at Newport, then a 3-34 triumph at Beddau before a scrappy 17-21 win at another Championship side in Pontypool last weekend.

The league meetings between the sides have ended in stalemate so far with Cardiff winning at the Arms Park and Carmarthen winning in West Wales. As things stand it is a 1st v 2nd affair in the Indigo Group Premiership.

The other semi-final will see Merthyr face Aberavon.
