Irish referee Frank Murphy will take charge of the Welsh derby between Cardiff Blues and Scarlets at the Arms Park on Friday night.

The former Munster, Connacht and Leicester scrum-half will be making his fifth visit to the Arms Park, which have so far seen three home wins and two away games, most recently being the defeat against Edinburgh back in October.

Altogether he has taken charge of eight Cardiff Blues games in all competitions, with five wins and three defeats. Two of those have been Welsh derbies, with a win away at Dragons and a loss against Ospreys at Judgement Day.

Murphy has been in the middle for four Scarlets games with just a solitary win. All three defeats have come in away games at Edinburgh, Benetton and Glasgow Warriors.

So far this season he has refereed eight games resulting in five home wins and three away wins, showing 12 yellow cards and sending two players off.

Murphy will be assisted by fellow Irishman Eddie Hogan-O’Connel and Welsh official Adam Jones. Simon McDowell of Ireland will be the TMO.
