Josh Navidi will captain Cardiff Blues on his return from injury as the Dragons come to a sold out Arms Park on Boxing Day, 3pm kick-off.
The Welsh international back rower has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring tear in the Rugby World Cup quarter-final against France but will return to action for the second festive derby after his side beat Ospreys on Saturday.
Navidi is one of five changes to the side that won at the Liberty, with the majority coming up front as John Mulvihill selects a side to play slightly faster on a plastic pitch against a Dragons side keen on playing running rugby under new Director of Rugby Dean Ryan.
Liam Belcher will start against his former side at hooker with Kirby Myhill having picked up an ankle injury, while Kieron Assiratti and Scott Andrews swap places at tighthead. Behind them Olly Robinson is preferred to Will Boyde on the openside, while Josh Turnbull moves up to the second row as Filo Paulo misses out.
A single change in the backs sees Hallam Amos also start against his former club with Matthew Morgan taking a seat on the bench alongside Ethan Lewis, who covers hooker, and Seb Davies, who has recovered from a knee injury.
