Cardiff RFC continue to change things up as Cup action returns

Posted by

There are seven changes to the Cardiff RFC team that beat Ebbw Vale last week as the same opponents return to the Arms Park in the second round of the Specsavers Cup.

Some of the changes are injury returners, as Tom Habberfield and Sam Beard return from spells on the sidelines, with the former a straight swap with Ben Williams, while the latter slots in at outside centre as Max Llewellyn slides out to the wing and Mason Grady drops out.

The other change in the backs sees Gareth Thompson return to fly-half with Dan Fish shifting to full-back and Edd Howley not involved at all.

In the forwards there is a swap at tighthead where Peter Lloyd starts with Ollie Drake on the bench, while James Ratti and Callum Bradbury are new at second row. In the back row Morgan Allen returns at captain with James Botham moving to openside flanker and Alex Everett dropping to the bench.

There is involvement for Hugo Souto, Sam Pailor and Leon Andrews on the bench, while Ethan Lloyd retains his spot as scrum-half cover.

Cardiff RFC: Dan Fish, Max Llewellyn, Sam Beard, Ben Thomas, Barney Nightingale, Gareth Thompson, Tom Habberfield; Thomas Davies, Evan Yardley, Peter Lloyd, James Ratti, Callum Bradbury, James Thomas, James Botham, Morgan Allen (c)

Replacements: Hugo Souto, Brynley Toms, Ollie Drake, Sam Pailor, Alex Everett, Ethan Lloyd, Joe Scrivens, Leon Andrews
