Cardiff RFC scrum-half Tom Habberfield has missed the last two weeks of action after suffering with appendicitis.
The 27-year-old was a late withdrawal from the team to play RGC, with Ben Williams only being told he was playing as he arrived for the bus up to North Wales, while he was not considered for selection last week against Ebbw Vale.
It is thought he will continue to be unavailable for the Blue and Blacks, with appendicitis having almost cost Adam Beard the chance to play for Wales at the Rugby World Cup recently.
Habberfield’s absence allowed Cardiff Blues U18s Ethan Lloyd to make his debut off the bench against Ebbw last weekend, but Lloyd is unlikely to be available this Friday due to eligibility regulations of the Specsavers Cup.
Elsewhere in the Blue and Blacks squad Nathan Hudd is still recovering from the broken arm suffered while playing for Cardiff Blues A, but James Beal is believed to be in line for selection this weekend after the head knock picked up against RGC.
