Much-changed Wales set to face Uruguay

Warren Gatland has made 13 changes to his Wales starting XV that will face Uruguay on Sunday following a five day turnaround from the win over Fiji.

Only Hadleigh Parkes and Josh Adams remain, as an entirely new pack of forwards comes in, captained by Justin Tipuric who was rested against the Pacific Islanders, with Alun Wyn Jones not even on the bench.

Nicky Smith and Dillon Lewis pack down at prop, with Ryan Elias preferred to Elliot Dee as the starting hooker, while fit-again Adam Beard and late call-up Bradley Davies form an all-Ospreys second row.

Aaron Shingler makes his first start of the tournament at blindside flanker, having covered lock off the bench up until now, with Aaron Wainwright switched to start at number eight alongside openside Tipuric.

In the backs Aled Davies gets the nod at scrum-half, with Rhys Patchell starting at fly-half, while Owen Watkin joins Parkes in the centre having impressed off the bench against Fiji.

The back three is made up of Leigh Halfpenny at full-back, Adams on one wing and Hallam Amos on the other, as he makes his tournament bow having been unused to date.

There is some makeshift cover on a bench that is split 6-2 in favour of the forwards, as Wyn Jones could come on at tighthead, having started every game as the loosehead up until now, while James Davies could be called on as an outside back if required.

Both Gareth Davies and Tomos Williams are also included among the replacements, with one likely to be used out of position, while Hadleigh Parkes or Hallam Amos will slot in at fly-half if required.

Wales: Leigh Halfpenny, Hallam Amos, Owen Watkin, Hadleigh Parkes, Josh Adams, Rhys Patchell, Aled Davies; Nicky Smith, Ryan Elias, Dillon Lewis, Adam Beard, Bradley Davies, Aaron Shingler, Justin Tipuric (c), Aaron Wainwright

Replacements: Elliot Dee, Rhys Carre, Wyn Jones, Jake Ball, Ross Moriarty, James Davies, Tomos Williams, Gareth Davies
