WRU College League returns for 2019/20

Posted by

The WRU College League gets underway this week, with Coleg y Cymoedd looking to defend the trophy they won once again last season.

Cymoedd will undoubtedly be favourites to win a fourth title in five years as they are boosted by new students who were part of last year’s unbeaten Cardiff Blues U16 North side.

They face a tough start though as they travel to regional rivals Cardiff & Vale College, who are looking to bounce back from a tough campaign in 2018/19 that was ravaged by injuries and regional call-ups.

CAVC are also boosted by the success of last season’s Cardiff Blues U16 South team, who only lost to the North and finished second in the Regional Age Grade Championship.

That game will take place at Cardiff Arms Park tonight (Tuesday) and will be shown live by S4C’s Rygbi Pawb on their Facebook page and website, with kick-off at 7.15pm

Elsewhere there’s a second Cardiff Blues regional derby in the opening week as Ysgol Glantaf, last season’s surprise package in many ways as they pushed Cymoedd throughout the regular season, host Whitchurch High school.

Games will be played weekly every week until w/c 16th December, with coverage here at cardiffbluesblog.com and on Twitter @CardiffRugbyWeb.

The full fixture list can be found on the All Wales Sport website here.
