Cardiff RFC have confirmed that 16 of their players have been training with the Cardiff Blues A squad ahead of the Celtic Cup getting underway this weekend.
All will be in contention for the matchday 23 to face Leinster A on Saturday at the Arms Park, which kicks off at 2.30pm and is included in Cardiff Blues season tickets for the 2019/20 season.
It is known that three of the 16 players are Thomas Davies, Callum Bradbury and James Ratti, with others potentially including Tom Habberfield, Ben Williams, Sam Beard and George Thomas, all of whom are either former professional or recently released academy players.
There are also four Pontypridd and four Merthyr players training under Gethin Jenkins and T Rhys Thomas, while there will be a core nucleus of Cardiff Blues academy and fringe players who will feature throughout the competition.
With only one first team pre-season friendly away at Bedford the squad will benefit from a number of familiar faces as time gets closer to the Guinness Pro14 starting at the end of September.
The fixture against Dragons A on the 7th September after Summerfest is expected to be close to a first-team friendly for both sides, while the trip to Munster A on Friday 20th may also see some more experienced names on the teamsheet.
The team to face Leinster A will be announced on Friday at midday.
