Cardiff Blues winger Owen Lane has scooped the Young Player of the Year Award at the Welsh Rugby Writers’ Assocation Awards.
The 21-year-old scored 11 tries in 18 games across all competitions, as he improved again having broken into the first team at the Arms Park during the 2017/18 season, and earned a call-up to Wales’ pre-World Cup training squad.
This award goes with the Peter Thomas Player of the Year honour that he scooped at the Cardiff Blues end of season awards. He receives it just ahead of new regional teammate Josh Adams, who scored three tries in the 2019 Six Nations and was nominated for Player of the Tournament.
Top prize of Player of Year at the Welsh Rugby Writers’ Association Awards went to Alun Wyn Jones on the back of captaining Wales to a Grand Slam, with some colossal individual performances from the 33-year-old.
