Cardiff Blues have confirmed they are in talks to switch to a new training facility at The Vale Resort with WalesOnline reporting that the Football Association of Wales are interested in buying us out of our current lease.
At present the club are slightly behind on rent for our facilities at the Resort, which are currently shared with Cardiff City FC, with the recently released accounts showing that as of last June there was still £1.7m to pay over the next three years.
The Football Club are at an advanced stage of leaving The Vale Resort for a purpose-built training ground on land near to Hensol Castle, with the FAW keen to buy the building left behind for their own use.
Cardiff Blues would then look to move to a new facility built on land at the Resort, and have put out this statement in regards to the negotiations.
“Cardiff Blues can confirm preliminary discussions have taken place over the potential of leaving the current training facilities at the Vale Resort, Hensol.
“The region is exploring the opportunity to leave the existing training base, on favourable terms, to move into a new purpose-built facility exclusively for the use of Cardiff Blues at another location within the resort.
“At this early stage, Cardiff Blues are merely exploring what is of best interest to the region and the provision of first-class, state-of-the-art training facilities remains a key priority.”
