Summerhill out as Cardiff Blues welcome back big hitters up front

Cardiff Blues will be without in-form winger Aled Summerhill for Saturday’s crunch game against Connacht as he has been ruled out due to a thigh injury suffered against Munster.

The 24–year-old has been devastating in recent weeks, scoring eight tries in seven games including the second in Cork last weekend, but was replaced early on in the second half and appeared to immediately seek treatment on the muscle injury.

It can now be confirmed that he will not travel to Galway on Friday with the rest of the squad ahead of Saturday’s game, with Jason Harries set to take his place in the starting XV after being put up for media duties on Thursday afternoon at The Vale Resort.

Elsewhere, Dmitri Arhip and possibly Nick Williams are both expected to be available for selection after missing the trip to Munster with slight knocks, while Jarrod Evans is also in contention after withdrawing in the warm-up at Irish Independent Park.

All three may have played under different circumstances, but with the game against Connacht a season definer no matter what the result last weekend, then it was decided not to risk them.
