The second half of the Regional Age Grade Championships get underway this weekend with all three sides hoping to build on a positive first phase of fixtures.
It is Cardiff Blues U18 who return to action first as they travel up to North Wales to face RGC U18 this Sunday, with some members of the squad fresh from winning the WRU College League with Coleg y Cymoedd earlier this month.
A 15-28 loss to Dragons got the season off to a slow start, but two bonus points were secured in a close defeat against Ospreys before the first phase of fixtures came to an end with a convincing bonus point win over Scarlets.
That left Cardiff Blues in fourth over the break, however this weekend’s visit to RGC is a game in hand, with the North Wales side acting as the league whipping boys having been left without a point from their first three games. A bonus point win will see our youngsters rise to second.
From there the 18s have a busy opening week, travelling to league leaders Dragons on the Wednesday before welcoming RGC to South Wales for the return fixture the following Sunday.
Tough away trips to Scarlets and Ospreys then bring the season to a close in late February.

Wednesday 30th January – Dragons (A)
Sunday 3rd February – RGC (H)

The Cardiff Blues U16 sides have to wait few days longer than their U18 colleagues to get back underway, with both in action next Wednesday and looking to extend their unbeaten starts to the season.
It is the U16 South who lead the way courtesy of having played a game more than the North, with the Ospreys and Scarlets teams hot on their heels.
Over the next month the North will play five games, and the South four, with the season culminating in an inter-regional showdown between the two U16 sides at the Arms Park on Wednesday 27th February, in what could decide who runs out league winners.
