Cardiff Blues hooker Kris Dacey will act as club captain for the remainder of the season after Ellis Jenkins was ruled out with a knee injury.
The Wales flanker was named captain at the start of this season, taking over from Gethin Jenkins, but the ACL injury picked up at the end of the Autumn International against South Africa has ended his first campaign as captain prematurely.
Dacey takes over now despite not being named in the leadership group put together by John Mulvihill during pre-season, and with Lloyd Williams and Josh Turnbull having captained the side in recent weeks.
The 29-year-old is an excellent candidate though, in his ninth season at the Arms Park and with 143 appearances under his belt, the Merthyr-born player is a well respected squad member and popular figure amongst supporters.
With 25 tries to his name he is seventh in the post-2003 try scorers list, and certainly leads by example in his work-rate around the park as well as being vocal in the group.
