Georgian prop Anton Peikrishvili is no longer a Cardiff Blues player having left the club and returned to his native country to pursue the next chapter in his career.
There has been some confusion among fans in the first part of this season as the 31-year-old still appears on the Cardiff Blues official website squad page but has not appeared in any matchday squads, media coverage or in the 2018/19 squad photo.
Back in the summer there were rumours that Peikrishvili was visiting other clubs as the club attempted to move him on before signing Dmitri Arhip, with quotas in place regarding the number of non-Welsh qualified players each Welsh side can have in their squad.
No announcement was forthcoming in regards to a move though, so it seemed he may stay with the club this season, however it can now be confirmed that the Georgian has left the club despite the fact that he was keen to stay at the Arms Park.
Peikrishvili arrived at Cardiff Blues in November 2016 when Salesi Ma’afu left the club at the end of his ‘interesting’ spell, having previously played for the likes of Castres, Brive and Bayonne in the French Top14 and ProD2.
He ran into trouble early on with a red card against Ospreys in his second appearance, but went on to make 16 competitions in all appearances across that first season in the Welsh capital.
After signing a two-year contract he was then an important part of our run to Bilbao last season, coming off the bench against Edinburgh in the quarter-final, before starting the semi-final against Pau.
However, the 27-cap Georgian international is now no longer a Cardiff Blues player, and while his next step is not currently confirmed, he goes with best wishes for the future.
