Cardiff Blues Kit News Revealed

Ahead of the 2016/17 season, the club have revealed a new away kit as well as details of a brand new and exciting principal partnership deal with Land Rover, replacing EADS/Airbus in a three-year deal.

Canterbury have remained suppliers of the Cardiff Blues training and playing kit with the same home and European kits on display as last season, just with the added Land Rover name as the main shirt sponsor. The blue and yellow European shirt will continue to back the #StayStrongForOws campaign, mirroring the colours of Owen Williams home club, Aberdare RFC.

The change comes in the form of what I would call the away kit, but some may refer to as the change/alternate jersey. The white and black creation of last year has been binned to be replaced by a new pink and blue design. I can’t class myself as a fan personally, but I don’t hate it and we’ve certainly had worse kits (lime green springs to mind!).

Land Rover’s sponsorship certainly seems a coup for the club as such a large worldwide brand. With many believing BT would be the the main contenders for the deal to match up with the three other Welsh clubs it was a pleasant surprise indeed. Even in rugby terms it is a huge statement as the only other rugby sides I’m aware of Land Rover endorsing is the British and Irish Lions and Wasps. Some bracket to be in, and I’m sure the players don’t mind the possibility of a discounted Range Rover or two!

The new away kit, alongside the newly branded away and European kits are available for pre-order here, with the official release being on Friday morning, in time for the pre-season friendlies to kick-off that night. Get saving that pocket money! Come on Cardiff!!
